About the name Mahesh
Maheshwara compresses maha and ishvara into a single title for Shiva as the greatest of all lords, and the shortened Mahesh keeps every bit of that authority. It saturated Indian naming in the seventies and eighties, so heavily that in Telugu cinema one Mahesh is simply understood to be the Mahesh.
Mahesh is a boy name of Sanskrit origin, pronounced mah-HAYSH. On the NameRarity scale it scores 79 out of 100, which places it in the very rare band — a genuinely uncommon pick — most people have never met anyone with this name. Its strongest period was the 1980s.
