About the name Harsh
The irony of Harsh is unavoidable in English, where the spelling means the opposite of the Sanskrit word for delight. Indian families abroad often lengthen it to Harsha or Harshit for exactly that reason, though the short form remains extremely common across north India.
Harsh is a boy name of Sanskrit origin, pronounced HURSH. On the NameRarity scale it scores 82 out of 100, which places it in the very rare band — a genuinely uncommon pick — most people have never met anyone with this name. Its strongest period was the 1990s.
